County Kildare LEADER Partnership
County Kildare LEADER Partnership is a local development organisation which is responsible for the delivery of a range of rural development, social inclusion, enterprise and community development initiatives in County Kildare.
In Leixlip, CKLP provide management of the Tús scheme which currently has 36 participants in various community groups throughout Northeast Kildare including Leixlip, Celbridge, Maynooth, Kilcock, Clane and Ardclough. The total number of participants for the county is a maximum of 180 of which 174 have already been filled.
About Tύs
The TÚS Programme was launched by the Department of Social Protection in December 2010 and will provide up to 5,000 placements nationally for long term unemployed people with community and voluntary groups.
County Kildare LEADER Partnership works with local voluntary groups to ensure that work placements are consistent with the skills and experience of participants on the programme.
Both supervisors and participants are employees of County Kildare LEADER Partnership and there will be a total of 180 places for County Kildare.
Key aims
- To provide short-term quality working opportunities for people who are unemployed,
- To carry out beneficial work within community and voluntary groups.
Participants are randomly selected by the Department of Social Protection from the live register and interviewed by CKLP.
Participants work 19 and a half hours per week and receive a top up on their social welfare payment of €20 per week.
Community organisations who wish to take part are asked to complete an expression of interest form and an application form, and to provide detailed work plans for participants.
Eligibility is subject to the body being not-for-profit, having a recognized formal structure, having a good track record of providing community services and demonstrating the capability to manage a Tύs worker with the support of CKLP.
